I really appreciate what 44 Stone Public House is attempting to provide to Columbia, which is elegant pub fare that has a high class taste without the pretentious price tag.
The food is very reasonably priced and delicious. Try the slaw as a side. We tried several of their appetizers and loved every single one. They have an excellent burger and their beer catsup has always been made by a different beer each time I have ordered it; first Guinness then PBR.
The ambience is very alluring and out of the four different waiters I had, it seems as if each was nicer than the last!
I did not get a chance to use the restrooms but considering the location used to be that pretentious Hemingway's restaurant, I imagine they are very nice.
I would say that 44 Stone Public House is most definitely worth a try, and a nice change of pace from the typical restaurants found in central Missouri.
