During the Black and Gold football game on April 14, the football team will reveal its new, Nike-designed uniforms. The new uniforms will ditch the 40-year-old “M” design and instead focus more on the word Mizzou and the Tiger-head logo.
KEEP YOUR ENEMIES CLOSE
MU will allot approximately 6,000 tickets — up from 3,800 — to the visiting football team’s section at Memorial Stadium. The number of seats is equal to other SEC stadiums and lets more out-of-towners visit magnificent mid-Missouri ... even though we despise them.
In an email to MU students in February, MU Athletic Director Mike Alden announced a $1.5 million resurfacing of Faurot Field with artificial grass. And it’s clear cut; the word Mizzou will replace traditional Missouri in the end zone diamonds on the field.
CAN’T BUY ME LOVE
Ticket prices will increase, placing Missouri’s football ticket revenue in the middle of the SEC pack. However, MU athletics is spending $65 million in 2012, one of the lowest SEC athletic budgets. The Florida Gators, a new SEC foe, shelled out $113 million in 2011.
NO BREAKS FOR YOU
SEC rules forbid game attendees from exiting and re-entering stadiums, which means no intermissions for tailgating, smoke breaks or your favorite game-day potent potables. Make sure to get your “fill” before coming in for the game.
